ESNNA Code of Conduct

Our commitment against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.

Machu Picchu From Cusco E.I.R.L. firmly rejects the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESNNA) in all its forms and has signed the Code of Conduct promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru (MINCETUR).

Legal framework

  • Law No. 29408, General Tourism Law, and its regulations.
  • Law No. 30802, which sets conditions to prevent the sexual exploitation of minors in tourism services.
  • Law No. 27337, Code of Children and Adolescents, and the Peruvian Criminal Code.
  • Law No. 30362 and the National Action Plan for Children and Adolescents.
  • United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.

Our commitments

  1. Maintain an ethical policy that rejects the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.
  2. Not promote, offer or facilitate, directly or through third parties, any service linked to the sexual exploitation of minors.
  3. Not allow minors to be accommodated or to travel with adults who cannot prove, with the corresponding documents, that they are their parents or legal guardians or are authorized by them.
  4. Report immediately to the competent authorities any case of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents we become aware of.
  5. Train our staff, guides and suppliers on the prevention of ESNNA and on how to act when facing a suspicious situation.
  6. Not use images or messages in our advertising that suggest or promote the sexual exploitation of minors.
  7. Display the prevention materials provided by MINCETUR in a visible place and inform our travelers about this policy.
  8. Report our prevention actions to the regional tourism authority when required.

If you witness or suspect a case of sexual exploitation of children or adolescents, call Línea 100 (Ministry of Women, free, 24 h) or the National Police at 105, or write to us at clicera.info@gmail.com. The sexual exploitation of minors is a crime in Peru, punished with imprisonment, also when committed abroad by Peruvian nationals or residents.
